Dreamscape Chronicles
Dreamscape Chronicles explores landscapes that exist somewhere between memory and imagination. Some begin with places I have known, while others emerge from dreams or fragments of images that feel familiar without belonging to a specific place. Rather than recreating a landscape, I am interested in what remains after details have faded and memory has reshaped what was once known.
I build each painting through layers of encaustic, cardboard, newspaper, pigment sticks, and gold foil, allowing the materials and process to influence what the landscape becomes. Forms are obscured and revealed, edges shift, and traces of earlier layers remain visible. Like memory itself, the landscape develops through accumulation, loss, and rediscovery.
These works ask what happens when I pay attention to something I cannot fully remember or name. A horizon, a hillside, a rocky river, or a shifting sky becomes less about a particular place and more about the experience of recognition. Through color, texture, and form, Dreamscape Chronicles explores that uncertain territory where memory and imagination meet, and something once familiar becomes newly seen.
